BOTTLED WATER VS TAP WATER

More and more consumers are becoming aware of the dangers of bottled water. While the label may have pictures of scenic waterfalls and hidden springs, this is generally not where the water comes from. Eric Goldstein, co-director of the urban program at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a nonprofit organization devoted to protecting health and the environment says, "But no one should think that bottled water is better regulated, better protected or safer than tap." More than 25% of bottled water comes from municipal water supplies - just like the tap in your kitchen.

Since bottled water is regulated by the FDA (as opposed to the EPA regulating tap water) there is less over-site and testing of the bottles than the tap. Also, most bottled water doesn't contain fluoride like the tap, so homes that don't drink from the tap may have children with more cavities and dental health problems.
